Senior Accountant in Cambridge at Shred – Tech
Perform thorough review and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (US GAAP); the review and reconciliations must be prepared on a timely basis, with clear identification of reconciling items with related solutions to prevent recurrence where possible, and clearly identified plans to clear unresolved reconciling items
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address issues and discrepancies
Help identify gaps in internal control environment, provide recommendations, and implement solutions to ensure continued robust internal controls
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes on various projects (including and for example ERP implementations)
Prepare Capital Expenditure templates (ensuring business case is fully supported) for submission to Head Office
Conduct detailed income statement reviews, including comprehensive variance analysis for various business divisions
Key member responsible for forecast and budget process, establish cost centre budgets and provide monthly review and commentary of material variances to budget; communicate results to Department heads
Actively participate in the preparation of financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
~ CPA

Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:
~5 years of accounting experience
~1-2 years working for a multi-national corporation is a plus
~ Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex financial data
~ Proven experience as an Accountant with a focus on balance sheet reconciliations, income statement analysis, and internal controls
~ Strong understanding of US GAAP and its practical application in a corporate setting
~ Excellent communication skills to convey financial insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
~ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively manage multiple priorities
~ Proficient in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
