Job Description

What is the opportunity?

To provide management (people, strategic, and operational) and direction (functional and technical) for the UK Banking supporting the RBC Wealth Management (WMI) / RBC Brewin Dolphin business.

What will you do?

  • Initially focus on supporting the Core Platform Replacement (CPR) programme as an SME on the UK Banking Operations data, processes, controls and operating model. This will involve engagement with the CI Banking Operations leaders to determine the design and build of Avaloq for the UK Banking product.
  • As part of CPR, plan for and establish the UK Banking Operations team covering resource, procedures, controls, MI, governance and stakeholder management
  • Oversee the day to day decision making process of a UK Banking Operations team providing support, guidance and continuity
  • Provides SME leadership and management oversight to the team, ensuring direction and motivation of staff
  • Act as first point of escalation for any operational issues that occur within the processes and accountability for resolution. Promotes superior customer service support to internal/external clients, ensures department is seen as responsive, value adding resource and a legitimate service partner
  • Define and implement operational and strategic initiatives to create efficiencies and increasing the control environment
  • Engage in strategic initiatives as the Banking Operations SME/thought leader
  • Ensures employees receive ongoing quality leadership, coaching, communication and development opportunities resulting in strong employee satisfaction ratings and a highly committed, enthusiastic team.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • A comprehensive understanding of Banking and related products including the risk factors and mitigation.
  • A thorough understanding of the Banking business models.
  • Full awareness of market regulations, our competitor's activities, regulatory and legislative developments.
  • Ability to keep abreast of AML and KYC regulatory changes to ensure all Operational teams are compliant as well as operationally efficient.
  • A Working knowledge of Swift

Nice-to-have

  • Qualified Banking or Qualified Securities professional
