We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic disability basketball coach to join our Sports and Activity Development team at Enable This is a unique and exciting opportunity to support young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Wandsworth.

Reports to: Senior Disability Sport and Activity Lead

Based: Wandsworth Borough

Salary: £31.52/h (inclusive of holiday pay)

Contract: Casual

DBS: Enhanced

Role Overview:

The post holder will be required to deliver high quality inclusive basketball sessions for young people with SEND.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver weekly basketball skills sessions to young people aged 8+ considering safety and progression within each session and adapting the session to the varying needs of the group.
  • Provide motivation and encouragement for the participants and parents/carers to engage in each of the sessions.
  • Responsible for setting up, packing away and monitoring equipment; reporting any damage or loss to project lead.
  • Taking weekly registers and monitoring attendance.
  • Provide regular communication to the Senior Disability Sport and Activity Lead with details of the attendance and progress of the sessions.
  • Supervising volunteers ensuring that they have defined roles in the sessions.
  • Responsible for administering first aid in the event of an accident and ensuring that safety requirements are met in all areas.

Skills and Experience:

  • Sports coaching qualification (essential)
  • Experience working with children with additional needs (desired)
  • Experience in coaching children and young people (essential)
