The Role
A member of the UK Operations team, reporting to the UK COO.

Accountable for providing assurance to Canopius Managing Agency (CMA) that all delegated authority and claims arrangements are being underwritten and managed in accordance with the agreed Managing Agent protocols.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Line manage, motivate and develop the Delegated Underwriting and Claims teams providing expert guidance and instruction as required.
  • Act as business lead in the 'Delegated End to End' operational project with the scope to redefine and improve processes and controls over the full delegated lifecycle including the refinement and use of current market tools.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert and engage at appropriate levels through Canopius' Future at Lloyd's and Blueprint2 projects with regard to any impact on the delegated landscape.
  • Further represent Operations with regard to delegated workstreams within several other change / ongoing oversight programs and forums such as Consumer Duty, Operational Resilience and Conduct Oversight.
  • Ensure that all Delegated Authorities are written in accordance with agreed DA policies and procedures and that these are kept up to date in terms of Lloyd's guidance and best practice.
  • Provide expert guidance and analysis to the business in respect of Delegated Underwriting Management and ensure that the function is seen as a 'centre of excellence'.
  • Provide effective oversight of the Canopius' Coverholder and TPA audit programme.
  • Manage relevant MI and KPI reports to be distributed throughout the business as required and provide meaningful data analysis in support to relevant Boards, Committees and Forums.
  • Proactively escalate and resolve any issues and challenges in relation to delegated business and track through to appropriate conclusion (mitigating risk of reoccurrence where possible).
  • Actively participate/drive (as appropriate) continuous improvement projects and initiatives in the function

Skills and experience:

  • Strong Delegated Authority experience in the London and Lloyd's market at senior level.
  • Excellent team leadership skills and ability to motivate, train and develop technical teams.
  • Indepth knowledge and experience of the operations and practices of delegated authority underwriting, including consumer products, conduct risk and the required control framework.
  • An understanding of the regulatory environment with an ability to review/ analyse and disseminate regulatory updates.
  • Ability to effectively present information to a senior audience (written and verbal) including with underwriters.
  • Experience managing and/ or leading an operational change project is preferred.
