Job Title: Automation Engineer
Our client, a leading global automotive manufacturer in Burton-upon-Trent, is looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to join their team. In this role, you'll be the go-to person for controls systems, sensors, PLCs, communication protocols, and automation on the site.
You'll play a crucial role in identifying, developing, and implementing new technologies to enhance processes and drive efficiency and performance improvements. You'll lead the way in deploying and integrating new systems and technologies.
- Test and evaluate systems to ensure functionality, efficiency, and security.
- Take charge of all existing manufacturing software and shop floor control systems.
- Explore cutting-edge technologies to propel the business forward.
- Maintain detailed documentation and backups of systems and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and provide technology solutions.
- Work with IT to streamline live data presentation on the shop floor for better process control and performance.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to enhance expertise in automation, controls, and robotics.
- Requirements:
- Background in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Maintenance Engineering.
- Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in PLC-controlled automation and automated processes.
- Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens), HMIs, SCADAs, and programming languages like C, SQL, and VB scripting.
- Knowledge of IP networks design and configuration.
- Ability to conduct FAT and site commissioning under formal client conditions.
- Additionally, a standout Maintenance Engineer displaying a strong drive and passion for controls and automation, with a proven record of developing technical skills, will also be considered. You'll receive support in enhancing your Automation skills as you advance in the role.
