Main duties and responsibilities

  • The Academic Services Officer (Academic Quality Systems & Projects) role will be responsible for supporting academic quality, systems and projects in response to the University's academic portfolio developments. The role will oversee the whole life cycle of programme creation, be responsible for the project team's accurate and timely completion of administration activities relating to the creation of course structures, validation documentation and liaising as required internally and externally.
  • The Officer will encourage a culture of flexibility, excellence and willingness to assist colleagues across Academic Registry and will be responsible, along with the Section Head (AQA) and Associate Director, for the monitoring of data quality produced by their Academic Services department within Academic Registry.
  • This is a new role and will sit in the Academic Quality Assurance team with strong links to the Systems and Surveys team, including line management responsibilities for the daytoday supervision and coordination of professional staff within the Academic Quality and Projects group.
    Skill and experience required
  • You will already have substantial proven administrative experience, ideally within an HEI, along with proficiency and experience in IT across the range of Microsoft products including databases, spreadsheets and wordprocessing. You will have experience in managing work activities that require a high level of collaborative working, time management, and negotiating skills in a busy environment.
  • You will be able to demonstrate that you have supervisory and team working experience, and the ability to work under pressure, preferably within a complex and dynamic organization. You should be highly organised, with a good attention to detail and the ability to create successful working relationships with a wide range of people. You will have excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to motivate and to mentor staff.
    Qualifications required
  • You will hold a minimum of a degree (or equivalent) or have proven professional experience at an appropriate level.
