London, Greater London, United Kingdom Islington Council Full time

The award-winning Communications and Campaigns team is key to achieving the council's ambitions - telling the story of its priorities, campaigning on behalf of residents and businesses, and supporting the transformation of services for the people who use them.

In this new 18-month post of Internal Communications and Engagement Officer, you'll help deliver some of the council's major internal transformation campaigns.

You will run your own first-class projects, around our workplace transformation, and manage a portfolio. You'll be part of a range of high-profile and fast-paced communications work.

You'll be expected to engage with staff across the council, and advise councillors, directors and services on communications, quickly identifying potential issues and opportunities.

You'll draw on and collaborate with our specialist internal, digital, creative and engagement teams to create brilliant content and ensure your work is targeted and tested with the audiences it's designed to reach.

You'll come with good experience of delivering excellent communications and an understanding of the challenges facing councils and working in a political environment.

And crucially, you'll be creative - understanding how to cut through the noise and get noticed, rather than rely on the same-old tactics.

To plan, lead, deliver and evaluate internal communications campaigns that support the objectives set out in the council's Strategic Plan, including digital, marketing, events and face-to-face communications.

To ensure that communications work is effective, data-driven, targeted and culturally competent.

To offer strategic communications advice to senior officers and service leads on allocated portfolio areas.

To support staff engagement projects, as directed by the Internal Communications and Engagement Manager and Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Officer.

To work with the wider service and other services to ensure that work is planned and that team planning processes are followed, ensuring work and projects are presented to staff in a coordinated way that is connected to the council's key mission and objectives.

To support the delivery of the wider communications service's objectives, giving advice and support to colleagues on major campaigns.

To contribute content and ideas for council printed publications and digital channels, ensuring that content is tied to council objectives and priorities.

The award-winning Communications and Campaigns team is key to achieving the council's ambitions - telling the story of its priorities, campaigning on behalf of residents and businesses, and supporting the transformation of services for the people who use them.

Engaging with, and communicating to, staff across the organisation is key to this success.
