The Experimental Group was founded in 2007 by three childhood friends, Olivier Bon, Pierre-Charles Cros and Romée de Goriainoff.

Xavier Padovani later joined them and shared their vision:
to offer the ultimate hospitality experience to an ever-demanding clientele.


Celebrated for bringing the cocktail bar culture to Paris, the Experimental Group operates Experimental Cocktail Club bars in Paris, London, Venice and Verbier; wine bars, Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels, in Paris, London and New York City; restaurants and beach clubs in Menorca, Verbier, Paris, Venice, Ibiza and London; and hotels in London, the Cotswolds, Paris, Ibiza, Verbier, Menorca, Venice and Biarritz.

Experimental Cocktail Club Chinatown is the first London venue from Experimental Group (Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels, Henrietta Hotel, Cowley Manor).

Established in 2011 in the heart of Chinatown, the Experimental Cocktail Club is a two-floors speakeasy bar.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The barback is critical to the successful activity of the venue: fast, problem-solving, and organised, the barback works hard to deliver the best bar set-up and continues to provide incredible support during service hours.


Main Responsibilities
-
Set-up of the bar stations in collaboration with the bartenders: fruits, herbs, garnishes, spirits, syrups, glassware, tools, etc.

Fresh juice, fruits, garnishes, etc
:

during the service prepare and take them to the bartenders.

Stock of the bar stations:

keep the bar fully stocked at all times with fruits, herbs, garnishes, spirits, syrups, glassware, tools, etc.
-
Backbar:

ensure the area is always clean and tidy.

Maintenance of the dishwashers:


ensure that the liquids are filled and that any calcium deposit is wiped away with a damp sponge at the end of the service.

Keep the stock of the liquids used in the machine up to level, indicating to the manager when stock is low.

Glassware:

keep a steady supply of perfectly cleaned and dried glassware at the bartender's disposal.

Glassware storage place:

clean it regularly.

Champagne buckets:

clean and shine them regularly.

Crushed ice machine:

clean it regularly.

Juice machine:

empty regularly the juice machine during the service, ensuring that the machine is thoroughly cleaned at the end of each service.

Rubbish:

ensure the rubbish bags do not overflow and are taken out (team effort) at the end of the evening.


Cleanliness, opening and closing of the bar


The Barback is responsible for the opening and closing of the bar, following the procedural list, from the set-up to taking out the rubbish at the end of the evening, and everything in between.

The opening and closing duties are part of a collective effort from all team members, as is the cleanliness of the bar throughout the entire service.


ABOUT YOU

  • Experience in a similar role within a cocktail bar.
  • Have an interest in mixology and cocktail culture.
  • Attention to details and customer needs.
  • Social, engaging and motivated.
  • Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to a range of work situations.
  • Be well spoken with excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge as well as abilities in other languages would be beneficial.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
