Location: West London and Soho

Working hours: Shifts are scheduled between 12:00 - 18:00 (subject to change), including weekdays and weekends. On average, 20-35 hours per week, with the potential for up to 45 hours during peak periods.

About the Role:

Japan Centre is seeking passionate individuals to join our team as Japanese Food Consultants. This role is perfect for those who have a love for Japanese cuisine and culture, and who enjoy interacting with and educating others.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional in-store customer service while providing insights into our Japanese food products
  • Conduct food sampling sessions, engaging customers with product knowledge, cooking and preparation tips
  • Upselling and driving add-on sales
  • Translating and explaining product labelling from Japanese to English, how to use instructions and product USPs
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sampling areas, ensuring all food safety and health standards are met
  • Assist in stock rotation and replenishment of sampling materials and products
  • Collaborate with the team to maximise customer engagement and sales through effective product sampling
  • You are required to be on your feet throughout your shift
  • Manual handling including heavy lifting, bending and stretching

Person Specification:

  • Japanese language is REQUIRED
  • Food preparation skills
  • Passion for Japanese culture and cuisine with an eagerness to learn and share knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging positively with customers
  • Previous experience in customer service, food handling, or promotional events is preferred but not essential
  • Strong commitment to hygiene, cleanliness, and maintaining food safety standards
  • Eligibility to work in the UK - YMS/working holiday visa holders are welcome
