Together, they form the Global Corporate Affairs Function, working across the network's member firms to revolutionize how interactions with reputation influencers are approached.

Role Summary

Within the realm of Global Communications are three teams focused on different specializations: Strategic Communications, Internal Communications, and Leadership Communications. The Strategic Communications team comprises three key pillars: Global Reputation Campaigns and Programs, Media Relations & Issues Management, and Social Media.

This role is part of the dynamic Media Relations & Issues Management team, which facilitates media activations for cutting-edge campaigns at KPMG. Positioned as the outward-facing thinkers within Global Communications, this team engages with external channels, communities, and stakeholders to craft effective external communication strategies.

The role primarily involves steering communication strategies to safeguard and enhance the firm's reputation, driving forward its Trust and Growth objectives. As a vital member of a skilled team, responsibilities include overseeing media relations for crucial business areas, executing proactive media activations for KPMG-wide initiatives, and collaborating on cross-functional and cross-industry endeavors.

This role in media relations demands regular interaction with KPMG leadership, subject matter experts, local firms, and external parties. High-quality outputs and results are paramount, requiring the successful candidate to demonstrate exceptional communication and influencing skills, along with sharp business acumen and professional judgement.

Operating on an agency model, Global Communications is dedicated to nurturing the career development of its staff. Communication professionals are encouraged to diversify their skill sets over time, potentially supporting or transitioning to other teams within Global Communications based on business needs or personal growth.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in Media Relations and Issues Management to devise and implement media plans for KPMG, focusing on campaigns for specific service lines or company-wide initiatives.
  • Cultivate enduring internal relationships with key stakeholders, grasping their business areas to develop robust external communication programs that yield tangible returns on investment.
  • Showcase a deep commercial awareness of core business areas and global priorities. Leverage extensive knowledge of external communications best practices consistently.
  • Recognize the interconnectedness of various business sectors and seek opportunities to promote coherence and consistency in messaging.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of KPMG's global external communication channels and adeptly utilize them to effectively engage diverse external audiences.
  • Nurture strong partnerships with local counterparts to ensure consistency in local markets and amplify the impact of global campaigns.
  • Demonstrate a solid grasp of prominent media outlets and their journalist networks.
  • Provide support to the Issues Management team as required, adeptly handling proactive and reactive media interactions.

To inject energy, innovation, and creativity:

  • Actively contribute to Global Communications, offering support to other Communication teams as needed.
  • Lend support to broader Corporate Affairs initiatives and deliverables.
  • Advocate for the adoption of fresh, inventive communication methods to engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Leverage KPMG's content management tools and editorial processes to ensure efficient project management of initiatives.
  • Collaborate with KPMG's Global Functions and Industries to foster a cohesive and integrated communication approach.
  • Keep member firms at the forefront of all endeavors.

Measurement and Resource Management:

  • Supervise Central Services backing for campaigns and programs, coordinating resources such as Events, Editorial, and Design, comprising a mix of in-house, outsourced, and offshored support.
  • Lead engagement with regions and countries on the implementation, enhancement, and rollout of programs.
  • Establish measurable KPIs for campaigns and programs, overseeing their performance and reporting on outcomes.
  • Conduct reviews of campaigns and programs, leveraging insights for future initiatives.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools: Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Competence in MS SharePoint.
  • Experience with MS Teams.
  • Solid business acumen.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Seasoned communications professional with substantial experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering impactful media relations outcomes.
  • Background in professional services and/or B2B environments.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Proven ability to craft compelling value propositions for services and campaigns.
  • Strong project management skills, securing buy-in and backing for projects from diverse stakeholders, ideally in a global, matrix setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for aligning with business objectives and translating them into actionable requirements.
  • Effective influencing and communication abilities when engaging with key internal stakeholders.
  • Comfort working across diverse cultural backgrounds and skill sets, willing to adapt schedules to collaborate with colleagues across different time zones.
