About the Job:
I require support for me to live as independently as possible in my own home in Colwyn Bay. I receive four visits each day, so some of the hours may be double handed, others working alone. I require assistance with mobility, personal care, continence care, medications, household duties and meals/drinks preparation.
Wednesday:
4pm (45 mins) & 7pm (30mins), Friday: 4pm (45mins) & 7pm (30 mins), Saturday: 9am (1hour) 12pm (45 mins) 4pm (45 mins) 7pm (30 mins).
£9.90 per hourResponsible to:
You will be directly responsible to your employer.
Main Tasks, to include any of the following at various calls:
Food and drink requirements:
9am: prepare breakfast and make coffee.
12pm: prepare lunch, drinks and snacks.
4pm: prepare a meal and drinks and offer my medication.
7pm: offer supper and provide a drink and my medication
Support with continence care, changing and disposal of pads, ensuring the catheter site is clean and dry, and the catheter bag is emptied every visit, all to be conducted with utmost regard to dignity
Assistance with dressing/undressing, either into clean night clothes/day clothes
The PAs will need to use the hoist to transfer from the bed to my wheelchair and back again
Ensure all dishes are washed following meal preparation, always maintaining with a good level of hygiene
Medications prepared and put alongside water within reach,
Assistance to go to bed; dressing in night clothes and my checking my pad; ensuring I am settled and comfortable for the night
Ensure TV is on, and the remote control is to hand at all visits
Ensure hall light on, the door is locked, keys are in key safe, and the monkey bar is down before leaving the property on every occasion
To interact and engage in conversation
To complete general cleaning and assist with daily living tasks, including but not limited to, changing/washing bed linen, washing clothes, etc
Drop off/pick up laundry/drying from launderette
To maintain a safe environment with due consideration to health and safety at all times
Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed
Essential Person Specification:
Be trustworthy, kind, patient and friendly, able to develop and maintain a supportive relationship using good communication and inter-personal skills
Be reliable and punctual, able to work independently and establish and maintain a professional standard of care
Respect and safeguard my goods, property, and privacy, upholding confidentiality at all times.
Be willing to undertake any training required
Be aware of Health and Safety in the the home and minimise accident risks; you have a duty to report any defects and or hazards
Ensure a good standard of hygiene whilst handling, preparing and storing food
To be aware of any diet requirements, ensuring they are met
Undertake this role with due regard to my physical, social, and emotional needs; the role is one of empowerment for me.
