London, Greater London, United Kingdom Bridge Café at The 999 Club Full time
Job description

The Bridge Café is an out of hours service, open 365 days a year, offering an alternative to emergency department admissions for people in Lewisham who are in crisis.

Based at The 999 Club in Deptford we offer a safe space in which individuals can access time-limited, recovery focused help and support when they feel unable to cope mentally or emotionally.

Working as part of a team in the role of Recovery Worker, you will be offering assessments, and triage to clients referred via 111, Rapid Response and the SLaM (South London and Maudsley) Crisis Line.

You will codesign and deliver brief interventions supporting clients to refresh or develop coping mechanisms whilst linking them into other relevant community resources.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team delivering psychologically informed interventions that support people to re-learn, practise or develop the skills they need and recognise the strengths they already have.

You'll work with people to help build their resilience, better manage their self-care and design their own wellness toolkit to help them avoid resorting to the emergency department.

  • Great people skills, the ability to communicate effectively with a compassionate, nonjudgemental approach and the ability to hold optimism for others at times when they may not be able to hold it for themselves
  • A positive, 'can do' attitude, a pragmatic approach, the ability to be consistent and (gently) persistent
  • A genuine interest in people, their innate strengths and their capacity to change
  • Experience of living or working with people who have mental health issues, including those in distress, and a broader understanding of complex need.
  • The ability and commitment to work evening shifts on a rota basis, over 365 days a year. Shift times are 16:00h 23:30h during the week and either 11:00h 19:30h or 16:00h 23:30h at weekends and on Bank Holidays.

Staff benefits include

  • 35 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays), increasing each year to a maximum of 38 days
  • Occupational sick pay 10 days per year full pay
  • 3% pension contribution
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Cycle to work scheme

To apply

To apply, please submit a covering letter, of no more than two sides of A4, outlining how your skills and experience will contribute to the work of The Bridge Café.

We are also keen to build our team of Bank Workers. Please see our website for further details.
