These growth plans include implementing a real time end-to-end Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform, a multi-million-pound investment, and part of our long-term digital transformation initiative.

Focused on advancing our technology and integrating web-based navigation, this EHR will allow HCA UK clinicians and colleagues to enhance patient safety, quality and care and to maintain our outstanding ratings and continue to be a global market leader in complex care.

Therefore, we are investing in a new workforce to lead this change, and we are actively recruiting now for a 2023 start, focused on change management, transforming work practices, and project delivery of goals and objectives.


In summary


This a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader, you will be part of a senior leadership team which will embark on a division-wide transformational programme led by the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Programme Director.

This programme includes multiple workstreams across the business.

As the lead of your assigned responsibility specialist area, you will take ownership of all aspects of the strategy, project control, change management and benefits analysis and ensure the platform delivers value to the organization in the short and long term.

This includes end-user engagement, communications, education, go-live support, post-live support, optimization and transition.

Specific deliverables and top priorities for this role are:

  • Accountable for managing IT aspects across all of the EHR programme, working collaboratively with the other EHR leads, executing the business requirements in line with the adoption of enhanced business processes.
  • Leading the 8 IT workstreams including architecture, integration, interoperability, infrastructure, cloud, build, testing and design, responsible for line management of the workstream leads, providing vision and direction, and a point of escalation.
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders and experts across the business and IT, challenging complexity, to ensure the technical solution meets the business needs.
  • Ensuring the seamless transition through discovery, design, build, testing and implementation, supporting the business adoption and the effective and efficient delivery of the EHR solution.
  • Responsibility for exploiting and building the necessary infrastructure and security services for the programme including network, server, cloud and cyber.
  • Defining and implementing a systems development and deployment framework ensuring this is adhered to. Deliver and undertake assurance of an IT control process (ITIL).
  • Accountable for all aspects of IT testing and responsible for close collaboration with all other parts of the programme to ensure effective business testing.
  • Responsible for the management of risks and issues for the workstream, escalating to a programme level where appropriate, following change control process and adopting standard project governance.
  • Responsible for ensuring reporting on the workstream progress, dependencies, risks and issues, costs and resourcing for consolidation up to a programme level with accountability measures and KPIs mapped against objectives.
  • Progressive leadership experience and understanding of the healthcare industry.
  • Previous ownership experience leading a large scale project team, with multiple resources and stakeholders to deliver a change programme.
  • Previous experience in driving the development of technology solutions and managing the people change management to adopt the change, impacting culture and driving efficiencies to benefit the organisation, (ideally, implementation of an EHR but not essential).
  • Experienced in leading and delivering £multimillion transformation programmes.
  • Working knowledge of NHS data and interoperability standards and strategies is advantageous.
  • Experience of delivering an EHR is advantageous.
  • Proven experience of delivering transformation change.
  • Experience working with large enterprise clients using technology at scale.
