Job summary

The key function of the Senior System Support Specialist is to support the users of our patient information systems, through daily monitoring & resolution of calls assigned to the team by our first line Service Desk. Providing excellent service to our internal customers, you will have good communications and customer handling skills to support our users. You will be investigating issues, creating solutions, updating the systems, & sometimes escalating incidents to colleagues, managers, or will be called upon to work with & build relationships with staff at all levels of clinical, administration and management. The key working relationships within the Trust will be with other System Support colleagues, & your Managers, the IT Training Team, Transformation, Trust Projects & most importantly Clinical staff within our operational Teams to support the delivery of excellent patient our supported systems have regular managed configuration and maintenance releases to deliver continuous improvement to the features available to our users. The Senior System Support Specialist must be able to work with colleagues to assess the impact of requests for change, propose options, create & document changes to configuration, test fixes & releases & ultimately support the release process to ensure safe deployment to the users.

Main duties of the job

*Support of various clinical and corporate systems.

*To support the day to day management and maintenance of the systems managed within the Systems Support Team including data quality reports, confidentiality and security.

*Provide system administration including appropriate access controls, setting up new users, deleting old accounts and amending existing users' details.

*To follow a range of practices and procedures with the ability to identify issues.

*Analyse a range of factors when analysing a system issue and suggest solutions.

*To ensure all incident management complies with ITIL processes.

*To take the lead for a reported incident, as agreed with the Systems Manager, ensuring that communications are maintained with the relevant staff throughout the lifetime of the incident. This may require the use of tact and discretion and involve explanation or interpretation of sometimes complex scenarios.

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.
