We are a 20 bedded unit that provides urgent care and assessment for a diverse range of acutely unwell surgical patients.
We also have an ambulatory area that comprises of 6 trollies and 16 chairs, providing initial assessment for patients referred via their GP.
We are a positive team that strives to provide an environment that is enjoyable to work in, supportive and actively encourages people to progress and learn.
- Provide personal care for patients including bathing, assisting with toileting, feeding and care in the last days of life.
- Works in accordance to the Trust policies and procedures.
- Provides support/guidance to new starters and others as appropriate.
- Assists the registered nurses in administering direct patient care.
- Informs registered nurses of changes in patients condition or observations.
- Prioritises own workload.
- Acts as an escort and chaperone as required.
- Communicates with patients/carers/relatives considering individual patient needs.
- Assist in keeping the ward clean and tidy and complies with Infection Control Policy.
- Ensure availability, cleanliness and maintenance of essential ward equipment.
- Undertakes some clerical duties such as answering telephones, greeting new patients and filing.
