The patient safety specialist is akey patient safety expert in North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.
Theyprovide dynamic, senior leadership, visibility and expert support to the patient safety work
in the Trusts. They support the a patient safety culture and

safety systems, engaging with staff at all levels, working across the networks sharing good practice and learn from each other.


An integral part of the the Nursing, Patient Safety and Quality team, undertaking thematic analysis of incidents and promoting in the reporting and management of investigationsthe Trusts Just Culture.


Leading on the development of the structure and processes as Trust moves forward to deliver the national changes in patient safety management and reporting, ensuring the Trusts Incident reporting system is effective.


  • Work as part of a dynamic team delivering an effective service supporting staff and patients across the Trust. Within the Nursing, Patient Safety and Quality Directorate, the post holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of a range of services designed to improve patient safety and build on successes.
  • Develop and maintain the patient safety culture within the organisation ensuring resilience and continuity of the process.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures relating to Patient Safety ensuring the delivery is reported through the organisations agreed structures and processes.
  • Develop and promote organisational duties around patient safety and escalate immediate risks to Director level.
  • Have an overview of and ability to influence and interact with all patient safety processes within the organisation
  • Maintain Compliance and Performance in respect of Patient Safety in line with advice from legislatory and nonlegislatory bodies.
  • To promote the need to keep patients and the public at the heart of the Trust activity, maximising the impact of feedback in the delivery of high quality services and care with the aim of bringing about real improvements in services and by championing the interests of people who deliver and experience the care within the organisation.
