Job Title: Quality Manager - Infrastructure Division

Location - Any Galliford Try office in England and Scotland

Purpose of the role:

As a key member of the Assurance Team, as Quality Manager (QM), you will ensure all quality systems are in place and properly executed throughout the Infrastructure Business Unit (BU), including but not limited to ensuring compliance with the Business Management System (BMS) & ISO 9001, completion of regular internal / external auditing, and ensuring continuous improvement to quality systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up an audit programme - including internal (projects and departments) & external (supply chain, clients and certification bodies).
  • Maintain a list of trained auditors.
  • Notify auditors of audit requirements.
  • Prepare for, conduct and report audits - including analysis of trends and routes for improvement.
  • Prepare and analyse data for input to BU Management Systems Review.
  • Produce a Management Systems Perception Report.
  • Undertake a Management Systems Review.
  • Monitor status of Checkpoints 1 & 2.
  • Carry out BMS orientation and general awareness training.
  • Review proposed amendments/additions to the BMS, discuss with BU counterparts & BMS champions and manage the process for BMS change.
  • Develop and maintain the Infrastructure BU specific BMS section.
  • Lead the business unit quality meetings.

Other Requirements:

  • Be able to engage with a variety of people from GT projects & offices, supply-chain and third parties.
  • Support pre-construction team during tender preparation.
  • Attend Bid Launch, Pre-Start and Technical Review meetings.
  • Assist with development, review & amendment of Quality and Business Continuity Plans.
  • Support the Non-Conformance process.
  • Assist in assessment of submissions to Builders Profile.
  • Receive Contract Award notifications.
  • Receive Monthly Contract Reviews.
  • Attend GT Group quality meetings.
  • Support development of Group quality initiatives.
  • Be willing to travel on a weekly basis throughout the UK, visiting projects and offices to perform your duties.
  • Manage internal auditors.
  • Potential to manage a small team should the growth of the business unit require it.

Key Outputs:

  • A BMS that is suitable for the needs of the Infrastructure BU.
  • All Infrastructure BU staff trained to have an awareness of the BMS including sharing of best practice where appropriate.
  • Programme of audits to assess project and departmental compliance with the relevant aspects of the BMS.
  • Audits closed out with corrective and preventive action taken where necessary.
  • Maintenance of the ISO9001 certification covering all activities carried out by the Infrastructure BU.

About you

Competency Requirements

  • A working knowledge of Business Management Systems and contractual documentation.
  • The ability to lead a team of internal auditors and offer clear quality assurance guidance to all levels of management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a positive attitude and the ability to work with and manage a team which ensures that quality and contractual issues are identified and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Full Driving License.
  • Office 365 expertise including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Desirable: Working knowledge of Viewpoint for projects and Field View.

Technical / Professional Qualifications Required

  • Desirable: Qualification (HND or preferably Degree) in Civil Engineering or a similar area.
  • Relevant CSCS card.
  • Minimum: Practitioner of Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and be working towards Chartered Quality Professional status (CQP MCQI or FCQI).
  • Minimum: Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Have or be working towards ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualifications.
