Job summary

The Upper GI Cancer Highly Specialist Nurse is a core member of the Oesophago-gastric multi-disciplinary team. They will lead and manage a caseload of patients to provide specialist information, advice and support to patients, carers and staff. The role involves co-ordination of patient's pathways education and holistic assessment of patients with Upper GI cancer and complex benign disease. The role will involve close working relationships with the UGI MDT and surgical centre.

Main duties of the job

Sco is the provider of Upper GI Surgical services across Greater Manchester. The Service is divided into 3 sectors and this CNS Role will be the lead for one of these .

The role will include:

Management of patients on surgical cancer pathways

Preparation and presentation of patients at MDT

Liason with Local Hospitals

Nurse led Follow up clinics

Review of UGI inpatients

Working closely with Gastroenterology Consultants to support UGI patients diagnosed with cancer

Provision of Cancer recovery package

service development and improvement

research/audit?data collection

patient/user feedback.

Non Medical prescriber

Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receivea full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
