Job Description: Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia Clinical Fellow at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital

Job Summary:

  • Conduct various cardiac surgical procedures from routine operations to complex surgeries
  • Anaesthetise patients for interventional cardiology procedures and other structural procedures
  • Opportunity to gain experience in managing patients with coronary artery and valvular heart disease, aortic surgeries, and adult congenital heart disease
  • Training in transoesophageal echocardiography and thoracic surgical procedures

Main Duties of the Job:

  • Undertake clinical work in theatre and critical care settings
  • Provide out of hours cover within critical care and wider hospital
  • Progress monitored with support of educational supervisor
  • Gain increasing independence in patient management and service provision duties

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, aortic, and cardiology procedures
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and post-operative management in critical care

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • MBChB, MBBS or equivalent
  • Final FRCA or equivalent

Desirable:

  • FFICM or equivalent
  • UK Resus Council ALS Course
  • Completion of e-Learning for Health induction for international doctors

Experience:

Essential:

  • 4 years in Anaesthesia
  • Experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia (min. 6 months) and Intensive Care Medicine (min. 3 months)
  • TOE/TTE experience with evidence of training course attendance

Desirable:

  • Experience in relevant allied clinical specialties

Teaching, Audit, and Clinical Governance:

Essential:

  • Engage in education of junior colleagues and team members

Desirable:

  • Teaching experience with undergraduates and postgraduates
  • Evidence of good teaching practice and contribution to clinical audit and guideline development

Management Ability:

Essential:

  • Participate in managerial activities

Desirable:

  • Previous managerial or leadership roles
