Working 37.5 hours a week, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for assessing the social care need of patients in secure care from a forensic perspective and be a principal provider of a quality Social Work Service toaddress those needs as outlined in patient care plans.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will work with patients who have complex mental health needs and who offend.
You will also be expected to supervise Social Workers and contribute to the development work in the department.

Yourresponsibilitieswill include:

  • Undertake a comprehensive assessment of the patients social care needs with supervision.
  • To ensure an accurate holistic and up to date social history is available for each patient, which offers formulations and recommendations.
  • When it is part of an agreed care plan focussed casework with individual patients using a range of interventions.
  • With the patient's permission initiate visit and maintain contact with patients' families, carers and/or significant others offering support, information and where relevant to the care plan joint family and patient sessions which are enabling.
  • Demonstrate a developed ability in networking, promoting the department/unit and making positive and productive contacts externally.
  • Conduct and provide reports on clinical audit as required.
  • Contribute to the in service training programme as required.

To be successful as a Lead Social Worker you'll need:

  • Good working knowledge of the relevant legislation
  • Minimum 2 years post Qualification and Management Experience.
  • To be registered with the HCPC
  • CQSW or CSS or Dip SW or Degree in Social Work
  • Understand and champion the social perspective on mental health
  • Demonstrate ability to assess and manage a patient caseload.
