Job Purpose:

To support the organisation in implementing an equality, diversity, and inclusion strategy and action plan, in order to make RLSS UK fully inclusive of its communities.


Role Overview
RLSS UK is a complex organisation serving many stakeholders.

We are a charity that generates income from commercial activities including awards and qualifications, while supporting our members, clubs and branch network.

We are caring employers and we are seeking to embed FREDIE (Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement)


Following an audit by the Centre for Diversity we have created an action plan and our ambition is that this will help us continually build our culture from within.

The Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Executive will be responsible for helping us deliver this ambition.

Role Summary
As the EDI lead, the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Executive will:

  • Ensure that all key EDI objectives are included in a project plan with actions identified, prioritised, and monitored
  • Ensure that the EDI agenda is recognised as positive, proactive and influential in contributing to the organisation's strategic and operational plans
  • To support the development and implementation of EDI policies, procedures, guidelines, practices, and behaviours to improve outcomes for the employee team, stakeholders, communities etc.
  • Provide advice and support the development of employment policies that promote fairness and embed diversity in the workplace
  • Provide or source relevant training in relation to EDI
  • Develop and lead an integrated approach to EDI in line with the organisation's values, behaviours and purpose
  • Embed FREDIE in every part of the Society

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate and uphold the Society's values and behavioural standards at all times
  • Support the development of EDI steering groups, as well as being an integral member of internal staff networks
  • To uphold organisational policies and principles on the promotion of equality
  • To help create an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued, everyone can contribute, and everyday actions ensure we meet our duty to uphold and promote equality
  • To develop, deploy and build RLSS UK's EDI objectives
  • To work closely with colleagues to ensure addressing inequalities is a key part of all strategies, plans and programmes
  • To be the lead on the delivery of the EDI action plan and to maintain, monitor, and adapt this plan

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report on EDI & FREDIE activity as and when required by the Leadership Team
  • To represent RLSS UK and participate at external meetings and events
  • To maintain awareness of local, regional and national issues affecting the communities we support
  • To organise and attend meetings as required
  • All other duties reasonably associated with your role, as directed by the Line Manager
  • Ensure compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 by complying with internal information governance policies and maintaining up to date documentation as part of RLSS UK's compliance programme
