The two REAL research units provide independent analysis to support better long-term decision making in health and social care, focussing on economic issues around the demand for services (REAL Demand; led by the Health Economics Research Centre, University of Oxford) and the provision of services (REAL Supply; led by CHE).

During the first two years, the units will focus on co-developing ambitious and high quality research proposals together with a wide range of system stakeholders.

This is followed by a five-year period of applied economic research covering a portfolio of projects.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed:

- _Knowledge of health economics, economics or health policy to engage in high quality research_
- _Knowledge of advanced econometric methods _
- _A keen interest in English health and social care policy_
- _Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide-ranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media_
- _A track record of publication in high quality academic journals (Grade 7)_
