Overview
Wincanton are looking for a Warehouse/Depot Planner to join the Planning team at our Sainsburys distribution centre in Northampton.

Reporting to the Warehouse Planning Manager, you will work collaboratively with the site Planning Team to produce and maintain an effective, robust and warehouse resource plan to meet customer service requirements and achieve operational targets.


The Warehouse Planner is responsible for the day to day site scheduling activity to meet business and customer requirement working in conjunction with the Warehouse Management Team.

Responsibility for planning activities such as colleague rota's, holidays and time and attendance all in a time efficient manner.

This role is any 5 days from 7.

How will you contribute?

  • Assist in the production and maintenance of an optimum warehouse plan in accordance with business needs, paying close attention to operational changes and budget.
  • Actively work with management teams, agencies and support functions to identify problems and develop solutions to minimise or eliminate delays to the operation.
  • Work closely with Warehouse Management to ensure resource plan is cost effective and meets all customer service requirements.
  • Management of Colleague Holidays and Rotas.
  • Management of exceptions on the Time and Attendance system.
  • Collation of colleague Performance Management statistics.
  • Assist in the production of reports for Senior Site Management to support KPI's
  • Escalate any issues to the Warehouse Planning Manager ensuring the smooth delivery of an effective and efficient warehouse service

What will you bring?

  • A sound knowledge of the principles of warehouse operations and planning functions.
  • Uses time effectively with demonstrable evidence of working under strict time constraints.
  • Well organised with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and workload.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Effective team player.
  • Ability to work independently using own initiative.
  • Excellent PC skills, with experience in using Microsoft office programmes. Successful person should have at least an intermediate level of skill in Microsoft Excel.
  • Confident and clear communicator.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
