About the Job Title and the Company: Are you interested in joining our pharmacy team based at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust?

We've created a new role to collaborate with our clinical teams on the Emergency Floor, overseeing medication supplies to patients at the new Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Working closely with the technical team, your responsibilities will include ensuring the supply and distribution of medications to the Emergency Floor, as well as training and enhancing the skills of various pharmacy services staff.

If you have a solid understanding of hospital pharmacy and want to play a pivotal role in ensuring adequate medication supply to different areas of the Emergency Floor, ensuring patients have access to their medicines during their stay and upon discharge, we want to hear from you.

We are searching for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to enhance their current skills, possesses strong organizational skills, flexibility, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of attention to detail.

You should be a team player capable of working independently, with a positive mindset towards delivering top-notch service quality and meeting deadlines.

Main Duties of the Job:

  • Work as a Senior Pharmacy Assistant - Medicines Management on the Emergency Floor, collaborating with the pharmacy department, nursing staff, and pharmacy teams.
  • Handle medication supply inquiries using your exceptional communication skills, liaising with Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, and dispensary or stores when necessary.
  • Analyze reports to ensure proper identification of medicine supplies, supervise pharmacy assistants' work, assist in staff training, and maintain work quality and standards.
  • Participate in evening, weekend, and Bank Holiday shifts as needed by the Pharmacy Directorate arrangements and Trust requirements.

Job Description - Job Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispensing and issuing medicines, analyzing reports for correct supply, providing an effective medicine supply service, and working in a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients have the proper medications at the right time.
  • Receiving and documenting medicines accurately, storing pharmaceutical preparations securely, managing stock items, supervising, training, and assessing pharmacy staff, participating in project work, and complying with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations, cooperating during weekend, Bank Holiday, and evening services, and performing other duties per the role's requirements.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ level 2 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable pharmacy environment experience, teamwork experience, and either dispensing prescriptions or preparing aseptic products.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Numeracy, knowledge of own pharmacy area procedures, stock control systems, and medication storage.

Desirable

  • Understanding of hospital pharmacy supply and discharge planning, ability to relate to multidisciplinary team members.

Skills

Essential

  • Effective written and verbal communication, IT proficiency, ability to work in a busy environment, attention to detail, adaptability, initiative, supervision, and prioritization skills, training proficiency, and response to queries.
