Job Description

Communications Support Engineer

Job Title and Company:

As a Communications Support Engineer at NEC Software Solutions, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting radio services. This dynamic position, based in Chippenham, Wiltshire, requires someone with 2nd Line Radio Services experience who can adapt to changing priorities swiftly.

Purpose of the Role:

This role is pivotal within our Managed Solutions team, reporting directly to the Radio Team manager.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer support to troubleshoot faults/issues
  • Offer 2nd line technical support for field engineers dealing with radio faults
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and optimization of radio networks
  • Install, configure, and test radio network equipment and software
  • Repair handheld and rack-mounted radio equipment
  • Conduct site surveys, maintenance, fault finding, and project work at customer sites
  • Participate in Out-of-Hours telephone support on a rotational basis

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Experience in 2nd Line Radio repair, maintenance, and fault resolution
  • Skills in antenna, PMR installation, and decommissioning
  • Knowledge of Tetra, microwave, and DMR systems
  • Understanding of health and safety protocols
  • Ability to liaise with clients and third-party contractors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Unix systems
  • Familiarity with RF and electronic test equipment
  • Understanding of IP networks/LAN
