Midwife - Continuity of Care

Harlow, Essex, United Kingdom The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust Full time

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated and caring midwife with a passion for providing women and birthing people with personalised care? Then we'd love to hear from you.

Our well established continuity of carer team is growing. Hera team is a wonderfully supportive environment where midwives flourish. We value each other's strengths, and operate a self-rostering system to ensure a good work life balance.

As a continuity of carer midwife you will provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care within our multi-disciplinary team.

You will build mutually trusting relationships with women and birthing people, enabling women to make informed choices and develop their personalised care plan.

It is important that you are a team player, with an ability to adapt and flex ways of working to ensure support for our women and people across all areas.

Each team member offers one day period and one night period a week where they are available to support women on the team caseload, whether they choose to birth at home, in our birthing centre or on our obstetric led unit.

You will also schedule one day a week to support essential postnatal home visits for the team caseload and attend a weekly team meeting to come together, learn from each other.

The rest of your weekly schedule is self-managed, allowing flexibility for both you and the families you care for. You may be accompanying women to obstetric appointments, providing antenatal care in women's homes or facilitating group care sessions.

Research has shown Maternity Continuity of Carer models can have safer outcomes for families and greater job satisfaction for midwives working in these models.

We champion innovative approaches and are involved in research which results in endless career development opportunities.

If this sounds like the right place for you then the Hera team leader Tina Playll would welcome an informal chat.
