3.5-year PhD Studentship: "Governing Deep Energy Demand Reduction", Science Policy Research Unit/Energy Demand Reduction Centre

This PhD studentship, hosted by the Energy Demand Research Centre, will explore questions of how individual and social organisation affect the potential to realise deep energy demand reduction solutions. While many energy demand solutions can be realised relatively easily, deeper shifts in, e.g, food, mobility, work, and consumer goods require different ways of organising our time and activities, and ways of working together. This position will examine the governance implications of these necessary but more disruptive shifts in lives and livelihoods.

Benefits:

The PhD studentship is offered for a maximum of three and a half years, beginning in September 2024, renewable yearly, subject to satisfactory performance on the doctoral degree. The successful candidate will receive:

  • Full fee waiver
  • Stipend equivalent to the UKRI doctoral stipend, currently £19,237 per annum.
  • Teaching and research opportunities, which will be paid in addition to the stipend.

Eligibility:

Open to UK/EU and overseas applicants. Applicants should have:

  • 2:1 honours degree,
  • Master's degree in a related subject (or studying for this) with a good level pass, or non-UK equivalent.
  • Proof of proficiency in English
