Investment Research Lead Specialist - London

  • Mercer has a long heritage of helping clients to evaluate and invest in multi-asset investment strategies, which can play a variety of roles in client portfolios and are of increasing importance with the asset management industry's growing emphasis on investors' overarching objectives
  • This is an exciting opportunity to lead Mercer's coverage of multi-asset strategies in Europe and the United Kingdom, reporting to Mercer's Global Head of Multi-Asset Manager Research
  • You will leverage and extend Mercer's market-leading position in assessing and selecting multi-asset strategies for a diverse global client base, while supporting sizeable existing allocations to best-in-class multi-asset investment strategies
  • With the recent establishment of a dedicated multi-asset group, this is an excellent opportunity to capitalize on your expertise to positively impact client portfolios and contribute to Mercer's commercial success
  • Be part of a collaborative, experienced team of specialists focused on the evaluation of multi-asset strategies, with additional scope to participate in Mercer's portfolio construction, asset allocation and broader strategic research initiatives

We will count on you to:

  • Lead Mercer's manager research coverage of multi-asset strategies in the region (United Kingdom and Europe), harnessing your familiarity with cross-asset investment approaches to form astute views on strategies
  • Play an active role in developing Mercer's relevant intellectual capital, displaying a commitment to excellence that will continue to underpin our market leadership
  • Manage large, complex projects, engaging proactively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve good outcomes
  • Guide and implement long-term business strategy, mobilize current resources, and anticipate future resource requirements and client needs to deliver consistent positive results
  • Develop and maintain a high level of credibility as a subject matter expert with colleagues, asset managers, clients, and prospects
  • Serve as an effective ambassador for Mercer in your specialist areas, supporting marketing and new business opportunities, and representing Mercer's views externally in the press and at speaking engagements
  • Challenge the status quo and drive innovation so that our value proposition continues to lead the market
  • Function as a role model and coach/mentor others. Peer review work conducted by colleagues and ensure that relevant compliance processes are understood and followed

What you need to have:

  • Relevant experience in a similar role and the technical expertise required to understand a diverse spectrum of investment approaches
  • Demonstrate the capabilities needed to form insightful evaluations of multi-asset investment strategies and communicate incisive views with clarity and confidence
  • A collaborative mindset, with a passion for learning and innovation
  • Excellent planning and organisational abilities, with a history of effective prioritization in meeting deadlines and developmental milestones
  • Solid relationship and stakeholder management skills

What makes you stand out:

  • Deep working knowledge of multi-asset investment strategies/products managed by asset management investment teams based in Europe and the United Kingdom
  • Demonstrated success in identifying multi-asset strategies that have met or exceeded relevant investment objectives while adhering to robust risk management protocols
  • Track record of devising and implementing enhancements in any of the following areas: manager research/due diligence, manager selection, analysis of multi-asset portfolio performance/construction
