An exciting and challenging opportunity has emerged to provide specialist technical knowledge advice and support for the Radiology Information System (CRIS) and the PACS (Picture Archiving Communications System). The PACS Team is part of the Clinical Imaging department at Royal Cornwall Hospital, supporting over 12,000 clinical and non-clinical staff in the Cornwall Healthcare Community with the use of Clinical Imaging associated computer systems. This 18-month fixed term contract has become available due to the current post holder being seconded.

The appointed individual will be accountable for accurate record-keeping of training procedures and delivering general training support to Clinical Imaging and other key staff members. They will independently resolve routine day-to-day issues and serve as the primary point of contact for user and third-party inquiries.

The role involves integration into the existing PACS team, with an on-call commitment including weekends and bank holidays. The full-time position requires 37.5 hours per week, potentially covering weekend and evening shifts.

The individual in this role will assist the PACS Manager in overseeing the Radiology Information System (CRIS), Insignia PACS, and other relevant systems, providing administrative and general support while coordinating workload and directing Directorate's strategic development.

The post holder will act as a Master Trainer for pertinent Clinical Imaging Systems, independently manage day-to-day challenges and serve as the initial point of contact for user and third-party queries, standing in for the PACS Manager when needed, attending meetings and directing inquiries to appropriate management levels.

In addition, the post holder will:

  • Offer support to users on clinical systems, including fault diagnosis and resolution, answering queries, and guiding users.
  • Prioritize workload effectively to ensure timely responses in critical areas.
  • Communicate with third-party supplier support teams to address and advance resolution of issues.
  • Participate in meetings and user groups related to Clinical software in Cornwall Healthcare Community.
  • Ensure system security remains in line with Trust policies, escalate any breaches to the CI Systems Manager.
  • Identify and rectify areas of poor data entry, educating users on correct procedures.
  • Monitor and optimize software systems, minimizing system downtime.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of software systems and their application in the NHS workplace.
  • Collaborate with relevant personnel on critical problems and issues as needed.
  • Support system projects and upgrades, working closely with senior team members.
  • Participate in on-call duties and flexible working hours to offer extended support to Cornwall Healthcare Community.
  • Provide training to team members on new system functionalities.
  • Maintain an accurate database recording activities, system errors, and trial creations.
  • Conduct confidential investigations into issues when necessary.
  • Generate statistical reports for data analysis within systems.
  • Assist fellow PACS team members with daily administrative tasks.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Imaging Systems Manager.
