Valvoline has a rewarding opportunity as a highly motivated and experienced Director of Strategic Partnerships to lead efforts in developing and managing both global and regional sponsorships, and key marketing relationships worldwide. This role will also lead the company's paid influencer team and programs to ensure alignment with overall brand and business growth objectives.

This role will require a deep understanding of the Valvoline brand strategy and influencer talent as well as strong strategic thinking, and the ability to foster impactful internal and external partnerships that drive business growth.

Lastly, this role is global in nature and requires a high amount of international travel. Partner/sponsor development globally and in specific regions is required and includes significant time investment in relationships, contract management, and negotiations.

How You'll Make An Impact

In the role, you would be responsible to:

  • Lead and manage a team of partnership brand managers/assoc. brand managers and assist with managing the company's sponsorship relationships, and influencers while owning the strategic roadmap for Valvoline Global's investment in these properties;
  • Develop and execute comprehensive account marketing strategies for key sponsorship customers and own the channel marketing development – while partnering with the commercial team
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with C-suite and senior executives within global and regional partners (Aston Martin, Cummins, and Hendrick as examples) and with select paid influencers (TJ Hunt for example)
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new global brand building (awareness) opportunities, sponsorships, and influencers and oversee the review and optimization of local and regional partnerships and develop a comprehensive contract and selection governance process for all paid sponsorships and influencers
  • Own the annual budget spend on both partnerships/sponsorships and influencers
  • Present to the Valvoline Global executive leadership the strategic roadmap for both sponsorship/partnership and influencer development and results

In this role you will be working with internal and external stakeholders:

Internal- global business unit members including the executive leadership team and commercial leadership and cross functional teams within VVV: sales, business leadership, and marketing. Specifically, this role will interact heavily with the Global Equity, and Regional channel sales and marketing teams.

External - relationships required with customers, partners, future partners, and agencies to provide further information/documentation and suppliers of new technology.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic account management, business development, and partnership management, preferably within the automotive or consumer products related industries
  • A background in both an agency and corporate environment
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully driving revenue growth and developing strategic partnerships on a global scale while owning full accountability for all financial aspects of these properties (contract negotiation, relationship, ROI deliverables etc...)

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience in channel marketing, sponsorship management, social programs, and influencer engagement is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally, to meet with customers, team members, suppliers, and partners.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills that clearly convey team standards and expectations along with regular management growth and development of the next level of team players
  • Strong delegation and follow-up skills
  • Decision quality, make good decisions based upon mixture of facts, analysis and experience. Can tactfully challenge assumptions made by others.
  • Strong business acumen and relationship builder - knows how business works, knowledge of business and organization basics, as well as current and future trends affecting the business and organization, is aware of how strategies and tactics are implemented by the business units
  • Strong executive presence – ability to take insights and create a tellable story to senior leadership in a concise and simple manner.
