Job Title: Cancer MDT Manager

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Cancer MDT Manager position at Colchester Hospital.

You will be in charge of managing the MDT team, overseeing recruitment processes, conducting and reviewing appraisals, providing training, handling attendance, and dealing with any grievances/disciplinary matters.

As a part of the multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with healthcare professionals and administrative staff throughout the patient journey, covering primary, secondary, and palliative care.

You will also collaborate closely with the Modernisation Project Managers, Operational Managers, and Coordinators.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the assigned divisional MDTC team daily, including recruitment, appraisals, training, attendance, and grievances
  • Coordinate the administrative pathway for patients with cancer, ensuring smooth operations across divisions and network contacts
  • Track patients on the Cancer pathway, communicate effectively regarding delays, escalations, and targets
  • Address non-clinical queries from patients, carers, general practitioners, and the multidisciplinary team
  • Validate Cancer minimum datasets for data quality and completeness

Qualifications:

Essential

  • GCSE Level C or above in English and Maths

Desirable

  • Degree-level education or higher
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Knowledge and Skills:

Essential

  • Prioritization skills for managing workloads
  • Subject matter expertise in CWT guidance
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and manage conflicts

Desirable

  • Knowledge of National Cancer Waiting Times V12

Experience:

Essential

  • Current role as an MDT Coordinator
  • Recent experience in NHS secretarial/administrative roles

Desirable

  • Team management experience
  • Experience in cancer services or a tumour site specific Group (TSSG)
