Information about the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available to be an Intelligence Officer within Counter Terrorism Policing South West.

The role will assist forces with intelligence collection and assist the host force with community related matters, ensuring the facilitation of the flow of intelligence between forces. Please note this role will involve meeting with and speaking to members of the public and local communities to forge relationships.

Responsibilities

  • To provide strategic and tactical briefings to police officers, police staff, agency partners and stakeholders.
  • To be the central point of contact for the force for advice and guidance.
  • To assist host forces in developing strategic coverage of emerging residual threats and ensure the capture of community intelligence is linked to strategic priorities.
  • To support forces to implement and monitor activity regarding various priorities.
  • To support the host force by advising of good practice on overt intelligence collection and community initiatives from both the regional and national area.
  • To assist the host force in the identification of community activity as indicated by intelligence development work.
  • To understand the requirements of Dedicated Source Units and identify and refer potential Human Intelligence Sources.
  • To maintain links with the community engagement role/local policing teams to ensure activity in the force is intelligence-led and informed and ensuring compliance with relevant strategies.
  • To liaise with key staff and partners engaged in various initiatives, bringing appropriate intelligence information to those meetings to assist the targeting of community delivery.
  • To assist in servicing the intelligence requirements of planned operations and investigations throughout the region and nationally when required.
