About this role

At Revantage, we share Blackstone's belief that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles are crucial to developing resilient companies and assets that deliver long-term value for investors.

The ESG team at Revantage was established in September 2021 to provide Blackstone's European real estate portfolio companies with a variety of shared services and resources, focused primarily on enhancing ESG data coverage and quality, accelerating real estate decarbonisation and streamlining regulatory compliance processes.

We're now seeking to strengthen the team with the addition of an experienced ESG strategy and reporting specialist to support the development and delivery of our approach to the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Reporting to Revantage UK's Head of ESG and working closely with Blackstone's portfolio companies and strategic delivery partners, you will support the implementation of a consistent, centralised approach to compliance across all Blackstone reporting entities in scope of the regulation.

Main responsibilities

  • Work with Blackstone's Real Estate ESG team and other relevant Blackstone and Revantage teams to develop a centralised CSRD implementation plan, aimed at achieving compliance in a robust and efficient way.
  • Liaise with finance and legal teams to understand the full set of reporting entities in scope and manage engagement with the portfolio companies and operating partners impacted, to ensure they are up-to-speed on the implications.
  • Work with portfolio companies, as required, to guide them through the double materiality assessment process, from value chain mapping through to stakeholder engagement, IRO scoring and the identification of material issues.
  • Guide portfolio companies in defining disclosure requirements consistently across asset classes, and where required, support the delivery of gap analyses and the setup of data collection systems and processes.
  • Work with data colleagues to integrate quantitative mandatory disclosure requirements into Blackstone's ESG data collection processes.
  • Develop standardised templates and guidance materials to support portfolio companies in responding to qualitative requirements, for example, transition plans for climate change mitigation.
  • Develop a tracker to enable CSRD compliance progress to be monitored clearly across all in-scope Blackstone entities.
  • Develop tools and resources to support training and upskilling on CSRD across Blackstone, Revantage and portfolio company teams.
  • Monitor the evolution of EU/UK ESG reporting regulations and, where necessary, develop solutions to support portfolio companies in complying with any new reporting requirements that arise in future.

Skills/Experience required

  • Experienced ESG reporting professional with minimum 5 years of relevant experience; consultancy experience a plus.
  • Good understanding of the real estate investment industry and familiarity with all stages of the asset lifecycle from acquisition through disposal.
  • Comfortable with pan-European scope and delivery across a variety of real estate asset classes, including offices, residential and logistics, among others.
  • Excellent understanding of CSRD, including ESRS standards, topics, and disclosure requirements, as well as affiliated regulations including EU Taxonomy and SFDR.
  • Experience in supporting CSRD readiness from entity scoping and double materiality through to preparation of 'dry run' reporting exercises with auditors.
  • Experience in ESG strategy development, including supporting delivery of value chain mapping, materiality assessments and stakeholder engagement.
