This breakthrough allows them to go beyond the restrictions of current protein degradation and stabilization methods, opening doors for new oral therapies in critical medical areas.
Role Summary
The company is looking for two scientists experienced in cell and molecular biology to join their expanding Biology team. This on-site role at their newly established Hammersmith facility, under the guidance of the Principal Scientist of Biology, requires presence 4-5 days per week.
The successful candidates will work with a team of skilled scientists to explore the mechanisms of action of the company's protein homeostasis modulators and validate important biological targets. They will share findings in meetings, collaborate with various teams, and connect with external partners. This position provides a chance to enhance skills and expertise in a dynamic drug discovery field, making a positive impact on patient lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct assays to understand the mechanisms of action of the protein homeostasis modulators.
- Implement chemical, molecular, and genetic techniques to validate targets.
- Record experiments and results accurately in electronic format.
- Present data in both internal and external meetings.
- Assist in the day-to-day management of the laboratory.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc/MSc with 3-4 years of experience or PhD in a relevant biomedical science, molecular biology, or cell biology field.
Strong experimental skills across various laboratory methods:
- Extensive experience in researching cancer targets.
- Exploration of target functions through molecular biology techniques and diverse assays such as Western Blot, cloning, CRISPR, qPCR.
- Preferably some exposure to working with animal models.
- Utilization of advanced models for target identification like primary cells, organoids, cocultures.
- Proven expertise in assay development (e.g., cell death, imaging) and a wide array of laboratory methods.
- Experience in screening compound libraries for active compounds.
- Familiarity with the realm of targeted protein degradation (Desirable).
- Strong data analysis, recording, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within a team and establish effective working relationships.
