Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Policy and Regulatory Affairs Manager to help us advocate for supportive policies and legislative environments to create this future.


Working as part of the UK&I Communications and Corporate Affairs team you'll support our policy work across the UK and Ireland.

You'll have an understanding in energy markets, ideally renewable electricity, enabling you to respond to relevant policy/regulatory risks and opportunities for RES.


Key Accountabilities

  • Support the development of RES' direction on policy and regulatory matters. Taking a role in implementing a proactive programme of activities, alongside reactive responsibility for issues as they arise.
  • Tracking key policy developments across planning, grid and markets translating these into meaningful information.
  • Support the creation of briefings on policy and regulatory matters to support engagement with senior officials and elected representatives.
  • Liaison and participation in trade association and industry activities; actively articulating and advocating RES' priorities in line with business objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining industry and regulatory relationships to support RES' engagement across a range of different stakeholders.
  • Support the creation of key messages for the business for an external political stakeholders at Westminster, Holyrood, Stormont, Cardiff and Dublin.

Knowledge

  • An understanding of the renewable energy industry in the UK and Ireland.
  • Knowledge of relevant energy and climate change policies in the UK and Ireland.
  • Parliamentary procedure and policy development.

Skills

  • Stakeholder management, with the ability to engage people at all levels and comfortable presenting to a wide range of audiences.
  • Persuasive influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication.

Experience

  • Demonstrable track record of working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Engaging with and influencing policy development and consultations.
  • Reviewing and analysing literature, and drafting written communications

Qualifications

  • Ideally educated to a degree level in a relevant discipline.
