To lead the management and development of the CAS service for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT) in collaboration with the Clinical Service Unit (CSU) Leads, CAS Manager and Head of Cardiac Physiology.

Independently deliver advanced CAS procedures and be responsible for the training and development of other staff to develop and maintain service delivery, ensuring excellent patient care.

To work collaboratively with the Head of Cardiac Physiology, Directorate Management Team and CSU leads to ensure the efficient operational management of the CAS service


To assist the Head of Cardiac Physiology in meeting the objectives and responsibilities as defined within the Cardiology Directorate strategy.


In collaboration with the Head of Cardiac Physiology ensure that service provision is delivered as the responsible budget holder and ensure that government targets are achieved.

To be responsible for the supervision and direct management of the Cardiac Physiology team within CAS
To take responsibility for maintaining own professional growth, identifying training needs and maintaining a portfolio of Continuing Professional Development in keeping with requirements for continued Professional registration

To complete mandatory training as required by the Trust and adhere to all Local and Trust Policies.


To behave in a professional manner always and act as an ambassador for the Cardiac Directorate within the OUHFT and when representing the Cardiology Directorate at external functions.

To perform (train and advise on) cardiac angiography suite procedures


In conjunction with the CSU leads and Head of Cardiac Physiology ensure the highest possible standard of evidence-based care delivery within CAS.


In collaboration with the Directorate Management Team ensure that Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Quality Assurance initiatives are achieved within cardiac physiology and nursing.


To monitor standards and facilitate the development and implementation of policies and guidelines to maintain the highest standards of infection control and prevention.

To ensure strategies are in place that promote the advancement of CAS practice.


To ensure appropriate data collection tools are utilised to capture relevant clinical information and that action plans evolve to meet identified needs.


To ensure that the Practice Development Strategy evolves such that Trust and Local requirements are met to support and facilitate patient-centred approaches to organising and delivering care in collaboration with Cardiac Physiology Practice Development Team.

In collaboration with the Head of Cardiac Physiology ensure that any necessary action plans are implemented because of internal or external report

To raise the profile of Cardiac Physiology at local, national, and international level

To manage conflict promptly and effectively and to ensure that strategies are in place to support other senior staff


To facilitate the implementation of an effective Risk Management strategy for the Unit whilst ensuring that all Trust Policies /Procedures are adhered to and implemented, and that relevant training and mandatory updates are provided for all staff, leading on investigation of incidents and complaints where appropriate.

oBSc Cardiac Physiology or equivalent
oILS / ALS or ability to undertake training
oDemonstrable further postgraduate qualification and/or experience equivalent ie BHRS accreditation
oExtensive experience within the field of cath lab based procedures and investigations
oCan provide evidence of effective leadership and developmental work undertaken at senior level
oEvidence of relevant managerial experience within a clinical environment understanding and managing HR, Finance and Clinical Risk/Governance issues.
oEvidence of continuing professional development
oMasters level/PhD education or expected to work towards in this post. oProject management experience
