Job Summary

Exciting opportunity to join the Acute Stroke Service at Ipswich Hospital due to maternity leave. Full-time secondment/fixed term position for 12 months starting on June 24, 2024.

Band 6 developmental role available.

Work alongside the Clinical Specialist and Specialist OT in providing acute assessment and treatment following guidelines and key indicators.

Our stroke unit comprises 4 HASU beds and 24 ASU beds with a strong MDT working ethos. Daily board rounds ensure timely assessments, inputs, and discharge planning.

Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy work integratedly with the MDT, supporting the MDT stroke follow-up clinic weekly. Rehabilitation Assistants provide additional support during in-patient care.

Sound clinical skills, organization, and availability to work weekends are advantageous. Suitable opportunity for upskilling to a Band 7 role or returning to stroke care.

Main Duties of the Job

Responsible for highly specialist assessment and treatment of stroke patients. Ensure appropriate care pathways and communication with other agencies.

Coordinate physiotherapy staff, assist in Clinical Governance action plan implementation, and lead the delivery of physiotherapy services for stroke patients.

  • Proven post registration experience
