Gloucester, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time
Speciality and Associate Specialist (SAS) and Locally Employed Doctor (LED) Educationalist, Band 7

Permanent position, 15 hours a week (2-days per week)

I am delighted to share this unique opportunity, to join the Postgraduate Medical Education Faculty as our bespoke Educationalist Post, supporting Trust Specialty and Associate Specialist and Local Employed Doctors here at GHNHSFT.

The Educationalist Post shows commitment to improving SAS & LED Doctors experience here at GHNHSFT, and allows the sharing of good practice and education across the organisation.

  • Provide help and support and be a visible point of contact for SAS & LED Doctors at GHNSHFT.
  • Work in collaboration with the SAS Tutor & SAS Advocate, in promoting sustainable support to SAS & LED Doctors.
  • Attend quarterly Trust Medical Education Board Meetings, along with regular updates with the SAS Tutor and Senior Post-Graduate Medical Team, sharing evidence based good practice, but also flagging Specialities/Departments in need of support.
  • Diligently signpost SAS Doctors to the relevant Departments, Colleagues or Information Portals within the Trust to provide support with personal Health and Wellbeing, including bullying and harassment.
  • Work with the SAS Advocate, SAS Tutor, Medical Executive Office and Director of Medical Education to address issues for SAS Doctors and ensure a consistent approach to SAS Doctors Health and Wellbeing is adopted across the Trust.
  • Communicate effectively with all Trust Colleagues/Departments and build effective relationships by use of appropriate questioning, clarification and language.
  • Challenge Colleagues when they do not adhere to Trust Guidelines and escalate as appropriate
  • Act as a "Change Agent" utilising the principles of evidencebased practice sharing good practice across the Trust as per the SAS Reform Guidance.

Whilst being integral to the wider PGME Team here at GHNHSFT, the Educationalist Post is essential in supporting our Trust SAS and LED Doctors.

SAS Doctors and Dentists are a diverse group of colleagues, with a vast range of skills and experience, reaching over many clinical specialties.

SAS doctors are distinct from Locally Employed Doctors (LEDs) who work in fixed term contracts for shorter periods of time.

The SAS Grade provides an opportunity for doctors to have career progression to the top of the grade over a number of years whilst gaining experience and developing their skills.
