Carlisle, Cumbria, United Kingdom BakerHicks Full time
Description

Design Delivery is currently undergoing significant growth and development within BakerHicks, and thus we are looking for talented professionals with established and developing experience, to work within a multidisciplinary team delivering a portfolio of exciting projects across various sectors.

You will lead our design and engineering services projects, responsible for overseeing all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery within the designated scope. You will collaborate closely with inter-discipline teams, including designers, engineers, clients, and stakeholders, to ensure project objectives are met on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.

This role will form the nucleus of the project team working alongside various stakeholders where you will be an integral part of design delivery, tackling interesting problems, finding innovative solutions, and delivering quality work.

This role is for the management of design and engineering services projects, as opposed to full-delivery EPCM projects. On full EPCM projects this role will report to the EPCM Project Director.

You will help to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to supporting others across the team in delivering a high-quality service.

The position may involve occasional travel throughout the UK and potentially to other European countries.

Key Objectives

  • Take control of the project development and manage the execution from Contract Award through to handover and project close out. Ensuring project objectives are met within budget and to quality standards.
  • Ensure scope and deliverables are clearly defined and delivered in accordance with the project requirements and contract. Ensure an integrated design programme is completed and secure all-party ownership.
  • Manage the interfaces and relationships between the client, project stakeholders and project teams. Establish good communication and collaboration between relevant parties, and thereby an effective flow of design and production information.
  • Deliver fully co-ordinated design (functional, commercial and programme) into enquiries, studies, and projects. De-risk design problems by finding solutions before they materialise.
  • Define the project organisation and assemble the project team from internal and external resources to successfully deliver the project objectives.
  • Effectively manage change measured against the contract scope and ensure cost and time is managed.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in design specialising in a given discipline or relevant projects, life sciences and process manufacturing or equivalent preferred.
  • Appropriate management and or leadership qualification (, APM; IPMA Level C and/or Prince2/PMP certification)
  • Solid knowledge of the overall Design Process
  • Experience in delivering multi-discipline projects
  • Understanding and overall ability to manage the likes of project scope, deliverables, contract management, costs and change management
  • Strong demonstrable communication style and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to influence and negotiate, both internally and externally, with an open and inclusive style

Many of the positions within our company are subject to security clearance. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by various factors. The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain security clearance for this role as required by our clients and sectors.

Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels - ( )

Why this role

  • You will be operating at a senior level within the business with the autonomy to make this role your own, allowing you to develop and grow your professional and personal skillset
  • You will work within various sectors, with some of BakerHicks' key clients, impacting human health and UK security
  • You will be joining a new and developing team within BakerHicks, with the ability to shape and influence how this team operate across the wider business
