PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPY*The post holder will be a member of the Procurement Department within the Materials Management Team and will provide a stock ordering and put away service to Stockport NHS Foundation Trust restocking the wards and departments.


  • 70% of the main duties and responsibilities of this role will be the manual and physical activity of ordering, checking and put away stock products. Physical effort includes standing for long periods, walking across the whole Trust site, working within small areas.
  • Process stock and nonstock requisitions utilising appropriate NHS Supply Chain IT System / Local Stock Management System.
  • Monitor stock availability, delivery times and dates. Ensure that all discrepancies are correctly recorded and that appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • In conjunction with ward / departmental managers undertake reviews of the stockholding range.
  • As per the departmental Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to undertake replenishment utilising the hand held terminals in appropriate wards / departments, identifying existing stock levels and reordering accordingly in line with predetermined maximum stock levels.
  • Maintain all electronic records of products and associated stock levels utilising NHS Supply Chain I.T. system accurately and amend as appropriate.
  • Assist the Materials Management Supervisors to develop and maintain good working relationships with customer service staff at NHS Supply Chain.
  • Identify any surplus stock that can either be reassigned to other wards or returned to NHS Supply Chain for credit and action accordingly.
  • Assist in the smooth implementation of any changes that result from Trust product rationalisation / standardisation or from changes to national suppliers.

Communications

  • Respond to and deal with catalogue queries from customers on product details, availability, delivery times and other associated queries.
  • Assist the Materials Management Supervisors in creating and managing relationships with end users and suppliers to develop product knowledge and other relevant information.
  • Attend meetings with Trust Stakeholders and Suppliers as and when required in support of the Materials Management Supervisors.
  • Attend Departmental meetings as and when required.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and Customer Service Skills
Physical Skills and Effort

  • Restocking deliveries as required
  • This involves physical effort of a varying nature, such as the manual handling of boxes, lifting and carrying, unpacking of products onto the storeroom shelves and is 70% of the main duties of this role.
  • Physical effort also includes standing for long periods of time, walking across the whole Trust site, and working within small storeroom areas.
  • Check and put away products and handle returns where appropriate.
  • Handling of bulky and / or heavy packages.
  • Source and provide items urgently required by ward staff as and when needed.
