Rothes Glen is one of Scotland's finest exclusive-use venues, the home of the whisky connoisseur, dedicated to hosting business and whisky enthusiast guests for private stays.

The castle has fourteen king size en suite bedrooms, drawing-room and dining-room, breakfast room, library, snooker room, tasting room and tower room, and is located 7 miles south of Elgin, equidistant between Inverness and Aberdeen.

We are looking for an experienced F&B individual to lead the front of house service all our guests enjoy.

Working closely with the rest of the F&B team, and our chef and breakfast chef, the Senior F&B Assistant will report to the House Manager.


Day Duties & Responsibilities - to assist in the following:

  • Assist in organising and managing all events at the house.
  • Monitor & maintain high quality service for all areas of the business meeting & greeting customers, taking guest bags to bedrooms and providing a tour of the house on arrival.
  • Work with the chef and housekeepers to create and manage work rotas.
  • Training of service team and consistent implementation of agreed service standards.
  • Oversee the implementation & maintenance of legislation, hospitality standards & procedures.
  • Maintain an uptodate knowledge of all house facilities & events in order to promote the business, answer guest questions & train staff.
  • Liaise with the kitchen to ensure the smooth running of food service.
  • Manage heating as required.
  • Be responsible for the correct use & maintenance of all relevant equipment.
  • Oversee the kennel as required and ensure no dogs beyond the breakfast room.
  • Show guests how all facilities work, including outdoor heaters and fires, snooker table
  • Work with the team to deliver the front of house operations including serving drinks and dinner.
  • Serve drinks and coffee as required,recording drinks accurately for Accounts to invoice.
  • Ensure the safety of guests.
  • Take responsibility as the Senior F&B Assistant covering for the House Manager and owners.
  • Request and undertake any agreed training.
  • Help other departments when required & be flexible to the business demands of Rothes Glen to ensure we look after our guests in the best possible way.
  • Answer house phone and deal with any guest issues.
  • Assist in the drinks management.

Evening Duties & Responsibilities - to assist in the following:

  • Clear up once guests have gone to bed and set up breakfast for the morning.
  • Clean all dishes and glassware.
  • Clean the public rooms.
  • Check and clean the ground floor toilets.
  • Clean outside areas, put away outside cushions, sweep and mop front steps and courtyard.
  • Clear and make up fires, restock logs and kindling, matches and firelighters.
  • Ensure all lights are turned off and only agreed ones are left on.
  • Other duties on occasion when acting as Night Porter.

Requirements:

This is a full time role based at Rothes Glen.

  • 30 hours per week (or equivalent. The precise times and days of your working week will vary according to when guests are in residence.
  • Flexibility is key, and on occasion you will be asked to stay overnight on site and be the first point of contact for guests during their stay.
  • Own transport and driver's license.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft word skills.
You are highly organised, have an eye for detail and take care in your work
