Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Practitioner to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience working with young people and their families, handling various complex mental health needs. In this role, you will be responsible for managing your caseload, offering high-quality care tailored to each individual, which includes risk assessment, consultation, and evidence-based interventions.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Hold and manage a caseload independently
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop care plans
  • Provide therapeutic interventions through both one-on-one and group sessions
  • Perform urgent assessments when necessary
  • Adopt a trauma-informed approach
  • Collaborate with external agencies such as schools and social services

Job Responsibilities

The incumbent will:

  • Provide assessment and treatment for children and young people with mental health needs
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Promote the welfare and safeguarding of children and young individuals
  • Contribute routine and urgent assessments and interventions to young people with various emotional and psychological issues
  • Show dedication to providing quality patient care and demonstrate strong decision-making skills
  • Manage their caseload effectively and offer support and guidance as needed
  • Provide training and supervision to other service providers and junior staff members

Person Specification

Training

  • Training and experience specific to specialist CAMHS
  • History of delivering training to others

Experience

  • Significant post-qualification experience, including working with children, young people, and their caregivers in mental health settings

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in mental health
  • Experience in safeguarding children and young individuals
  • Desirable: Experience in community settings and diverse cultural contexts

Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification in nursing or allied medical professions
  • Membership in a professional body
  • Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications in mental health-related fields
  • Teaching and assessing qualifications

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Effective management of caseloads
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities
  • Customer service orientation
  • Proficient in record-keeping and report writing, including care planning
  • IT skills
