Essentia has a fundamental role in supporting the activities of the Trust.

Essentia's focus is on providing a high quality hospital environment and a high quality hospital experience for our patients:
through setting imaginative standards in the physical and built environment,

The Trust recognises that Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPTS) is an integral and vital part of their patient services.

There is particular understanding of the vital role played by transport services in ensuring that high quality services are accessible to patients of restricted mobility, due to their medical condition.

NEPTS is part of Essentia.

Our patient transport service is available for all patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport because of their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen.

All requests for patient transport are assessed on medical need. Patient transport vehicles operate with appropriate staff and equipment.

As patients have diverse needs, we provide a range of vehicles such as cars, ambulances and high-dependency units and use specialist equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, carry chairs and stair climbers.

The service is required 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. The total number of patient journeys covering all motilities is approximately 320,000 per annum.

NEPTS provides around 320,000 patient journeys annually to acute sites, community locations and partner organisation of Guy's and St Thomas'.

The post holder will be responsible for reviewing, implementing and managing all the processes to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with Trust-wide policies and to ensure statutory compliance.

This role will ensure the robust management of all the Trust's NEPTS requirements from standard the standard Patient Transport Service (PTS), to secure mental health transport, High Dependency Unit (HDU) transport and paramedic inter-site transfers.

The role will influence the strategic development of the services and the delivery and control of the service specifications within the agreed budget parameters.

The role holder is accountable for the delivery of high quality and cost effective services via agreed resources and they are expected to respond to future challenges and the requirement for efficiencies while making sustained performance improvements.

This post will support the Integrated Care System (ICS) by working closely with and providing leadership to other partner organisations across the region to ensure there is an integrated approach to the management of NEPTS.

Our patient transport service is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport because of their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen.

We provide the service to the Guy's and St Thomas' sites including Renal and cancer services.

We are a large busy and friendly team with our own growing in-house transport team.

We support each other and constantly strive to look for improvements in making our service the best it can possibly be for patients.
