The post holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of Nuclear Medicine services, leading the Nuclear Medicine Team to provide excellent standards of imaging provision in terms of quality, safety and access to services, providing the Radiology Service Manager with regular feedback regarding agreed key performance indicators for this service.

Perform and report on agreed Nuclear medicine procedures as an advanced practitioner or working towards the qualification.

They will promote Trust values ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures and will line manage an allocated team, being responsible for their personal development and engagement.

The post holder must be able to operate independently when deputising for the Radiology Services Manager.

Manage the provision of high quality and timely Nuclear Medicine services to provide accurate diagnosis and treatment. Accountable for the delivery of Nuclear Medicine services reflecting current protocols, guidelines and practices. Perform and report on agreed Nuclear medicine procedures as an advanced practitioner or working towards the qualification. Assist in modelling the service to take into account local service pressures. Assist in the strategical modelling of the service taking into account demand and capacity and existing workforce funding. Proactively monitor waiting times within the Nuclear Medicine modality. Plan, organise and manage daily workload and staff in order to provide a comprehensive service. Focal point for any clinical and safety issues within the modality. Focal point for any technical and service issues. To participate with the recruitment and selection of staff. Ensure that staff receive annual appraisal reviews and act as an appraiser and develop staff within their roles. Instrumental in the selection of new equipment. Manage budgets effectively and act as signatory. To lead in innovations of Nuclear Medicine services, playing a key role in the development of business cases.

To perform Nuclear Medicine examinations.

To use analytical and judgemental skills to interpret radiographs, accurately differentiating between normal and abnormal findings, taking appropriate action as required

To be competent in the operation of the Radiology Information System / PACS System

To maintain patient dignity and confidentiality whilst undertaking examinations Demonstrate good communication skills.

To ensure that adequate radiation protection is given to self, patient and others in line with IR(ME)R 2017 IRR 2017 (including local rules)

To implement radiographic protocols to meet the needs of the service.

To use manual handling aids competently as required by the Trust for safety of both patients and staff.

To participate in advanced practice within an agreed weekly rota.


To supervise the activities of students and trainees within the department to ensure that they observe health and safety rules and fire regulations.

To review radiographic examination referrals for appropriateness and priority

Develop and promote good working relationships between multidisciplinary teams
