An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Group Psychotherapists and / or Adult Psychotherapists to join our well-established Specialist Psychotherapy Service in City and Hackney.

We are looking for an experienced, skilled and enthusiastic mental health professional who have a core training in either:

Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work and who have trained as Group Analyst or Individual Psychodynamic Psychotherapist.


The post holder will need to be prepared for challenging but exciting work, which requires them to have a high level of internal emotional resilience, an excellent understanding of working within the NHS and a desire to support the development of the service.

They will be based in Homerton.

The successful applicant will be expected to hold a caseload of patients, providing both group and individual work. They will have a broad range of duties, including assessments, consultation and collaboration with neighbourhoods and local care providers.

The post holder will receive both group and individual supervision. You will also be required to supervise staff both clinically and from a management perspective.


The service as a whole aims to promote excellence and innovation in the provision of care to patients with challenging and complex presentations.

There will be opportunities for continued professional development in line with appraisal and service development.

To contribute to assessment of clients referred to the service, and offer both group and 1:1 therapy.

This will include online and / or face to face delivery of screening assessments, interventions and specialist assessment and formulation, in line with professional competencies.


To work closely with the locality neighbourhood teams to further develop pathways and facilitate the provision of psychological therapy and psychologically informed care to the local population we serve.

To develop and support the psychosocial work of other staff through teaching, training, supervision and consultation.

To provide specialist advice to NHS and voluntary sector agencies concerning the assessment, treatment and management of service users.

To follow defined practices and procedures under the management and co-ordination of the Operational and Clinical Leads.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice.

To take part in Quality Improvement projects within the team.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development and research.


To participate in CPD and other developmental activities, keeping up to date with relevant psychological research and national guidance (DoH, NICE etc).
