The Centre for Health Research and Innovation is a dynamic environment for the support and development of health research, innovation and clinical trials. We employ a large multi-disciplinary team of enthusiastic and committed staff who work alongside the health care teams to offer our patients the opportunity to be involved in research.

We work in close partnership with the local Clinical Research Networks and together we have developed a broad portfolio of high quality research. We are excited to be strengthening our academic and industry links and building on the success of our existing programme of original research.

We are offering the right candidate the opportunity to lead our team of experienced and highly skilled research nurses. Ideally you will have clinical experience of supporting medical patients. Our current portfolio is a diverse blend of high quality commercial and academic clinical trials. You will have the opportunity to support multi-centre trials and locally led original research.

Main duties of the job

Operationally manage the clinical trials team supporting their research theme of chronic conditions. Together with the clinical theme team you will strategically plan the portfolio of trials activity across a number of specialties. Have responsibility for the management and oversight of the performance and conduct of trials within their theme. Work with patients, carers and clinical staff to identify areas for research and be the lead contact for theme-specific patient/public enquiries. Be committed to developing their staff by engaging with local and Trust-wide training and development opportunities. Support your staff in the achievement and maintenance of research nurse competencies and be responsible for ensuring their team are up to date with all mandatory training requirements. Be part of the management team working strategically across the entire Trust. Lead work-streams developed by the management team to raise awareness of research amongst patients and staff and use their knowledge and experience to contribute to the provision of continual assurances for research conduct at the Trust. Embed themselves firmly within the specialties they are supporting, working closely with clinical management to align research activity with service developments and capacity. Engage and network with Manchester BRC and other CRFs within the country.

Our incredible team is made up of hard-working staff that consistently go above and beyond their duty of care to improve patient experience and sustain our services- and we love to celebrate each and every one of them. We also believe in rewarding our staff for making our hospitals such a great place to work, by opening doors for career progression and providing a wealth of benefits that ensure they, as well as our patients, are well-cared for.
