Trainee Shop Manager

Are you a seasoned leader in retail, hospitality, or another customer-focused field? Are you eager to advance into a management position?

If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We are seeking a trainee shop manager to train at our shop in Canterbury. The position offers a permanent full-time role (45 hours per week) with a variety of shifts, working 5 days out of 7 each week.

What the training includes:

  • Initial training at our Canterbury shop, working alongside an experienced shop manager to enhance your retail management skills.
  • A phase of independently managing your shop with strong support from your Area Manager.
  • Assuming full responsibility for one of our local shops about 3-6 months into your training, while further developing your management skills under the guidance of your area manager.
  • Working towards a Level 4 Retail Manager apprenticeship qualification with Babcock Training, our endorsed training provider.
  • Assistance with advancing your Math and English skills if necessary.
  • Completion of an independent end point assessment at the conclusion of your training.

This 18-month program culminates in a permanent position upon successful completion.

In exchange for your dedication and effort, you will receive:

  • A starting salary of £29, with progression to £32,332.28 after 6 months).
  • A Level 4 apprenticeship standard qualification for retail management.

As one of our Trainee Shop Managers, you will:

  • Man the shop entirely, ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining a safe, orderly, and clean environment.
  • Inspire and lead your team to maximum productivity and success.
  • Set an example by actively participating in the day-to-day operations of our busy shops.
  • Manage critical expenses such as payroll, shrinkage, and waste.
  • Adhere to standards concerning customer service, cash handling, health & safety, stock management, merchandising, and presentation.
  • Oversee team recruitment, training, and development.
