The Strategic Research Partnerships Hub (SRPH), based at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus is a new service that connects researchers, innovators, industry, clinicians and academics to R& D pathways locally and nationally. Offering expertise in funding, networking, collaborations, strategy, commercialisation and delivery of research.The Research Adviser will play a crucial role in driving innovation and advancing the Hub's strategic objectives through supporting innovators to secure national research funding and to work with the team to strengthen and grow a network of partners. Principally assigned to:o Support local innovation in medical devices and digital health technology research.o Coaching researchers to navigate the complexities of the research environmento Provide expertise for a range of funding opportunitieso Build a network of partners, both locally and nationally.They will require a strong background in research funding, grant application processes, excellent project management skills, expert knowledge of the innovation landscape with a proven track record of successfully securing funding for innovation projects.

Main duties of the job Provide expert advice/support to NHS, SME, and clinical academic researchers who are based at, or collaborate with, Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS FT, and partner organisations, who are developing innovative health technologies and plan to develop research funding applications. Advice will cover:

All aspects of research design

Sources of, and application procedures for, research funding

Public involvement

Knowledge of major national funding programmes

Help researchers to navigate the complexities of the research funding environment.

Support researchers to prepare for interview/presentations as part of the application process, where required.

Take a lead role in strengthening and growing Med Tech and Innovation networks and forge new relationships in both the East of England, and nationally.

Become a Subject Matter Expert for Innovation funding for health and social care research and be agile to new and emerging funding opportunities. About us Our Trust

  • Educated to postgraduate level or equivalent experience.
Desirable
  • PHD.
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working within a research environment in NHS/academic or healthcare setting.
  • Involvement in the development of research proposals for submission to national research funding bodies.
  • Experience of the Med Tech research sector and engagement with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Desirable
  • Experience of working within the NHS.
  • Experience of working within organisational partnerships.
  • Experience of communicating effectively with different organisations.
  • Experience of Public and Patient Involvement in Research.
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of research processes within health and / or social care.
  • Knowledge of non-commercial research funding systems, in particular the NIHR, UKRI, Innovate UK.
  • Knowledge of Commercialisation pathways for medical devices.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of the NIHR Research Programmes and support infrastructure.
  • Knowledge and experience of research budgetary processes.
Skills Essential
  • A proven ability to provide high quality advice and support to researchers developing applied health research applications.
  • Skills in quantitative research methods.
  • Critical appraisal and analytical skills for interpreting information in research proposals.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
  • Time Management and prioritisation Skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas both written and verbal.
  • Ability to critically assess research methodologies, and to identify the most appropriate for a given study.

  • Qualitative research methods.
