At Simply Business, our people are our biggest strength. In our expansion, we're seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to play a pivotal role across all aspects of the business. This position requires handling a variety of matters with a business-focused, practical approach and simplifying complex legal issues.

Reporting to the US General Counsel, you'll be a thought leader and business advisor supporting commercial, tech, product, marketing, and other business areas. Alongside providing subject matter expertise and collaborating with stakeholders, you should excel in interpersonal skills and be adept at managing multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Handle legal issues, including drafting commercial agreements and advising on employment matters
  • Develop corporate policies, work on legal and compliance projects, and provide expert advice on legal and regulatory issues
  • Manage disputes, relationships with outside counsel, and monitor changes in laws and regulations
  • Assist with employee training and support the General Counsel as needed
Required Skills:
  • J.D. from accredited law school and admitted to practice law
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience with a focus on drafting complex commercial agreements
  • Preferably, experience in the insurance industry
  • Ability to offer practical guidance on key issues and strong interpersonal skills
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks, being proactive, and providing innovative solutions
  • Dynamic communication, building strong relationships across functions, and explaining legal matters clearly
