Job Description:


Reporting to the Head of In Year Financial Management & Partnering, you will act as a partner to the business, providing a financial lens and information to assist decision-making and to extract the maximum benefit from Genomics England's net c.

£100m annual budget.

Your primary role will be to challenge and support, providing valuable financial advice, strategic insight and business solutions to directors and other budget holders.


Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Partnering with key stakeholders throughout Genomics England, acting as a bridge between Finance and the business, using strategic and technical finance skills to create value and to enable Genomics England to meet its company goals.
  • Keeping up with required continuous professional development associated with the membership of any financial body.
  • Acting as the public face of Genomics England Finance, you will engage nonFinance colleagues in aspects critical to the successful delivery of wider Genomics England company goals.
  • Building strong and lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Finance feeds into decision making.
  • Playing an integral role in Genomics England financial management through the year, particularly in areas of forecasting and budget management to support strategic company objectives.
  • Ownership of the Finance information presented to the business; to process, model and interrogate data, turning this into information to support decision making.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of how the business works and identify critical success factors in the organisation and understand how the role of the Finance Business Partner can enable this.
  • Bridging the relationship between Finance and Genomics England management, bringing positive financial influence on stakeholders and ensuring good financial practice is at the heart of decision making.
  • Developing broader commercial acumen that increases breadth of understanding and the ability to identify global events that could impact Genomics England.
  • Providing general support to the Finance function including support, where necessary, to the production of quarterly & annual returns to Department of Health & Social Care, the Genomics England annual statutory accounts and company budgets/plans.
  • Knowing and understanding the meaning behind our virtues and leadership behaviours and embodying them in all aspects of your role.

Qualifications:

Part or full accounting qualification (CCAB). Experience of working for or in partnership with the NHS, DHSC or ALBs would be advantageous.

LI-Hybrid

Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility. We expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it is several days a week. There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to.

The exception would be some of our roles that would require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.
